Apprenticeship Program

School Business Hours: M-F, 7:00am-3:30 pm
Bring picture ID and must be 18 or older.

Description: The Ironworkers Local 623 has a training program consisting of classroom instruction and on-the-job training. Testing is done at the end of each semester for percentage increased to the apprentice. Upon successful completion of the three-year program, the apprentice will move to journeyman ironworker status.

Local 623 Apprenticeship Program offers training in the following:

Welding, torce cutting, steel erection, blue print reading, reinforcing of concrete slabs, rigging, crane signaling, OSHA 10 and 30, OSHA Sub-Part R, scaffold user/erection and dismantling and fork lift.
While attending the program you will also be enrolled in the Baton Rouge Techincal College.

Prior Experience
If you have any experience in, steel cutting, structural steel erection, welding or rigging please bring any documentation of proof and agree to take a qualification exam. (written and/or hands-on)

Cost for Training
Local 623 Apprenticeship Program picks up all cost for all training, there for, there is no charge for books, certifying in welding, OSHA courses and no charge for enrolling into the Baton Rouge Technical College.
